...because the National League wins their first All-Star game since 1996. What a defensive play and throw by Marlon Byrd.

Also, A-Rod never got an at bat.
That's funny, tying run on first and A-Rod sits.

What a defensive play and throw by Marlon Byrd. Who called it? I'll put in a nod for Marlon Byrd. He has the third best batting average in the NL and he's been a great defensive center fielder, making highlight reel plays on a routine basis. Plus he's the type of player who sprints around the bases when he hits a home run, and I like to see guys like that succeed.

I was saying, as a fucking total joke, that the Mets will use this home field advantage in the World Series all day. Really it's a joke because they aren't even gonna make the playoffs, but still, it was good for a few laughs.

Right now they are 1 game back from being in the playoffs, and their best offensive player, who hasn't played a game this year, is coming back this week. There's not a doubt in my mind that the Mets will make the playoffs.

There's plenty of time, no doubt. What will you do if they collapse yet another year though? Can't blame it on injuries this time.

Probably bitch and moan. Other than that, hope that they fire Omar Minaya. If they don't, bitch and moan some more.

Hire more latin players! I swear watching a Mets game is like watching a Puerto Rican day parade. They celebrate average games like they won the world series. I think K-Rod is still celebrating from a win he had over the Phillies back in May. He kissed his fingers and pointed at the sky roughly 67 times.

Hahaha they aren't that far back, they still got a shot at the wild card. Lots of baseball left to play.

Yeah, but with the way they've played since a week before the All-star break, it's hard to imagine them playing well enough to get past the now many teams in front of them.

Yeah, I know but it wasn't like they were playing all that great. They are hitting horribly with RISP. How long is Ryan Howard out for? How'd he get hurt?

He's on the 15 day DL but it's retro to when he got hurt so he's out for like 12 days. He rolled his foot hard coming back to the bag. He hit a double, over ran the bag like he might go to third, and then when he turned around to get back to the bag he kind of lunged. Had his lead foot way out in front, and he went to the outside part of the bag and it slipped off. It looked like it hurt. But MRI and X-Ray were negative. Just needs rice and he will be good ... hopefully. I mean they lit up the Marlins last night, but I'm not expecting that every night. Kendrick will prolly give up 4 or 5 tonight in the 6th. He does that a lot.

Fire Omar, fire Jerry, fire HoJo, Fire Dan Worthen, fire their entire fucking staff and start fresh. Trade Beltran. Put Jason Bay and Luis Castillo on waivers, even though no one will take them. Straight up release Ollie Perez. Bring up whatever prospects we have and let's see what they can do. This season is over. I'm done.

I heard they made an offer to trade Castillo and Perez for Carlos Zambrano straight up, but the Cubs turned it down. I don't follow the Mets, but those guys must be pretty awful if Chicago would turn down an offer to get rid of Zambrano and free up the two and a half billion dollars he's owed next year.

Castillo and Perez are set to make a combined 18.25 million dollars next year and Zambrano is going to make 18.3 for the next 2 years. So the Cubs wouldn't have saved any money next year, but would've saved 18.3 overall. And they're both playing ridiculously horrible. Ollie is 0-4 in 7 starts and 7 relieve appearances. He has a 6.70 ERA, a WHIP of over 2, and has less Ks than BBs. Luis Castillo can't stay healthy and when he does he under-performs. In 58 games played, he's hitting a measly .242 with 14 RBIs and has routinely failed to turn double play after double play.

When they go on a short win streak in a few days and the Braves fall off so it looks like they have a shot again it will be even better.
