At UFC GSP will defend his title against upcoming Brit Dan " The Outlaw " Hardy and like his fight will Penn Spike will follow the two as they train in 3 primetime specials.
Does anyone think Hardy has a snowballs change in hell of taking the WW title from " Rush "?

GSP is coming off injury. His roids should help him, but if Hardy has good TDD then he can make this a match.

You think all he needs is good takedown defense to win? Tell that to Alves, Hughes, Penn, Fitch, Koscheck and everyone else that got in the cage with GSP. If he wants your ass on the ground, guess where your ass is fucking going.

I think his wrestling is beyond the pale but someone who can stand up with him, i.e not get opened up for takedowns with strikes can defend his takedowns

Didn't say it was I'm just being a jack ass and saying what it would take to beat St Pierre. I've always felt that in comparison to his kicks and power, his boxing isn't as mobile. His wrestling is world class and his BJJ is quite good. To beat a guy like him you need to outpunch him and outwork him in the clinch (greco wise) and win on the ground. BJ Penn would have been a good guy for that but the problem is St Pierre is just too strong and BJ Penn isn't a great takedown guy. You don't want to be under St Pierre, well, maybe Azula does (anti-semitic Silver Surfe rloving twit ) I don't think Hardy will do it unless St Pierre comes in mentally unprepared for a hungry fighter I hope St Pierre moves to 185

Penn was exactly the fighter I was talking about in the first fight. BJ Penn is an EXCELLENT boxer and one of the top 5 American BJJ specialists IMO. He is also a son-of-a-bitch to take down from the single leg or if he gets a sprawl and if you get him down, his BJJ is enormously effective on the ground. Not everyone's BJJ is.
BJ out boxed the shit out of St Pierre and made the takedown's hard. St Pierre won because he used the intelligent strategy of punching once or twice into BJ's guard, standing up and out-conditioning him standing up. Frankly, I think he wanted it more.
The second go round I think St Pierre figured out why he had won. BJ got out-lasted because he is out-weighed by 20-30 pounds by a far, stronger man on fight night. It's a lot of weight to make up for and carry around against an equal opponent.
St Pierre simply showed the strength difference and aggressively enforced it. BJ simply didn't have the strength. He MAY have done better if he simply ceded the stand up and pulled to guard but I think he would have gotten pounded out there too. St Pierre now officially matches up too well to BJ Penn. Styles make fights
The second one was a serious ass raping. I was glad, BJ hasn't always been the most gracious victor and I loathe that in a fighter

When fighters start to think like that, thats when they get beat.
Fights are like wars, you have to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. When you start to think that your defenses won't be overrun, they will.
Cung Le just lost a fight against a guy that was tough, and not much else.

How do you mean? Well basically that he knows his opponents are hungry, and it's hard to stay hungry when you're at the top. So at that point, there's nothing for him to aim for next, it's just defend what you got, or lose the title.

He says that's a possibility, but not the only way to go. He has to continue to raise the bar by switching up his training and sparring above his head (e.g. Renzo Gracie ass whoopins). He sent a subtle jab at all the fighters who treat the sport like college sports where their all in a gym with their best friends having a great time but never being truly forced to push beyond where they've plateaued skillwise. From GSP's perspective, if you usually spar with Batman and that helps you become good enough to beat Lady Shiva, you do not become content with that. Instead you decide it's time to start training with Karate Kid or Thanos.

OK. I think GSP is trying to raise the bar for himself by aiming for things like wrestling in the olympics or going up a weight class. Plus, tough contenders will emerge. It is harder to stay the champ than to become the champ, true

Definitley looks like GSP has the better camp. nate the great, patrick cote' and kenflo. Hardys got.....Matt Serra?
I'm not a big fan of either guy, so I hope its just an entertaining fight. A good mixture of standup, with some takedowns, escapes, submission attempts, etc. I don't really want 3 1/2 rounds of pure ground and pound before a GSP tko victory.

Whoa, whoa, they're both taking things seriously. It actually seems like Hardy's a little jealous that he can't have the type of camp that GSP has, but is trying to remain confident in his own preparation, which seems inferior. GSP can afford to train with Renzo Gracie, KenFlo, and Nate "The Great."

Big names don't necessarily mean better camps. St Pierre travels a lot from camp to camp. Renzo is in NY, Greg Jackson ois in New Mexico and St Pierrre is in Montrreal. Kflow started out in Boston BJJ, went to American Top Team and is now at a new camp. Matt Serra is a guy with a lot of resources, he runs a great camp and he is probably at Serra's because Serra beat St Pierre. A good thjing in a camp is to go to one where the guy did well against your upcoming op“ponent

Serra got lucky in that fight, the utter ass raping in the second one proves that. Nothing Serra has is going to help Hardy.

I'm not too sure. I think Serra came in either intimidated or just overwhelmed in the second one. In recent years he's been less ambitious and focusing on his two schools.
One thing to notice about the first fight. GSP is a somewhat stiff boxer IMHO. Not a bad boxer but his feet are better than his fists. Not too many people can do much about it but it's just an opinion. BJ Penn is the opposite. BJ is a slick boxer with few kicks who lacks the strength to fight GSP.
Matt Serra is not a GREAT boxer but he is a VERY VERY aggressive fighter standing up and he caught GSP. I think GSP doesn't expect people to go after him standing the way Serra did because his wrestling is so good and his ground game is incredibly unique in that his submissions and ground and pound are equally as dangerous.
In the second fight GSP simply walked through Serra's stand up and grounded and pounded him and never let him use his Jiu Jitsu. Sadly, I think Serra could have done better (we're from the same town so I always cheer for him)
The logic applies. Serra studied St Pierre well enough to get a victory over him and fought (and won IMHO) against BJ Penn, the other guy who got a good fight on St Pierre the first time out. Plus, Serra's camp has a ton of world class BJJ guyuys, Ray Longo (excellent stand up coach) and some top level guys.
Serra's teacher is also Renzo Gracie, who knows St Pierre's game very well so getting Serra, Renzo's top disciple, is a smart move.
I think to beat St Pierre you have to solve his wrestling mixed with stand up, so I hope he has that covered. Otherwise he will lose.

Thing is I don't see Hardy having a striking advantage as Serra or Dana White want us to believe. In GSP vs Penn 2, GSP was dominating Penn in the stand up and Penn is one of the best boxers if not the best boxer in MMA.

When GSP fought Penn he was so hopped up on Roids he could tank Penn's blows. As Safado said, Penn doesn't have the requisite power to intimidate Mr. Roider GSP.

I dunno man, steroids aren't the be-all/end-all. Even if GSP was on roids, it's not what makes him one of, (if not the) best pound for pound fighters. He's got crazy drive and motivation, and I believe that's what makes him train harder that most of his opponents, and strive to be well rounded. This is more than just another fight for him, his mentality is on a whole other level-
"I am a martial artist. He is not. He probably doesn't understand the meaning of this. After the fight, I guarantee he will."
He really believes that shit, whereas all Hardy says in his vids is how he just wants to hurt his opponents cause it basically gets him off.

That is legendary (and exactly how I feel). St Pierre does take roids IMO, but it isn't what makes him a champ. Everyone in the UFC for the most part takes roids.
BJ is a better pure boxer than St Pierre but since St Pierre is so good at takedowns and dangerous when he gets you to the ground, he opens up a threat BJ cannot counter. BJ is forcved to thinjk "well if I really let my hands go I'm on the ground and then he is getting position or pounding me" so he has to fight - carefully and St Pierre imposes his will.
