as for the Wicker Man.....damn i wanted to like that movie....it was offensive to just about everyone and has Christoper Lee.....but all the singing got to me. i thought it was gonna break out into a full blown musical at one point

That's part of its appeal, and part of what makes it creepy. It also enrages my father-in-law, who is a diehard folk fan and believes 'The Wicker Man' soiled the good name of folk.

Seriously, watch the original.

I haven't seen the remake but I gather it sucks. The original is viewed as a classic of the horror genre, and probably the best British horror movie ever made, including all the Hammer stuff.
